Nuclear Physics Program
Nuclear Physics is one of the most important research areas among scientific and technological studies. The Nuclear Physics program comprises researchers who can carry out the studies in the fields of heavy ions physics and reaction mechanisms, experimental nuclear physics, quantum mechanical properties of nuclei,gamma-ray spectroscopy, beta decay, nuclear physics measurement techniques, nuclear reactions, radiation physics, industrial applications of nuclear techniques, nuclear reactors and nuclear energy,particle accelerators, radioecological studies, medical physics and dosimetry, radiotherapy physics, nuclear medicine physics, the determination of natural and artificial radioactivity, the use of nuclear techniques in environmental studies, radon gas measurements in various environments with active and passive methods, design and development of the radiation detectors and nuclear structure physics. The experimental research infrastructure; Nuclear Physics Research Laboratory includes Gamma Spectroscopy System, Alpha Spectroscopy System and Radon Measurement Systems, Nuclear electronics. The Master of Science (M.Sc.) and doctorate (Ph.D.) programs are conducted in Nuclear Physics program
Prof. Dr. Ali TUTAY
Ali Tutay is a Professor at Istanbul University, Science Faculty, and Physics Department Nuclear Physics Division. He obtained his bachelor’s degree and his master degree from Technical University Berlin, and his PhD from Istanbul University, Department of Physics, and Nuclear Physics Division. His main research areas include experimental nuclear physics, heavy Ions physics and atom Physics.

Baki AKKUŞ is a Professor at Istanbul University, Science Faculty, Physics Department, Nuclear Physics Division. Prof. Dr. R.Burcu Çakırlı Mutlu
R.Burcu Cakirli is a Professor at Istanbul University, Science Faculty, Physics Department, Nuclear Physics Division. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Istanbul University, Science Faculty, Physics Department, her master and PhD degree are from Istanbul University, Institute of Science, Nuclear Physics Program. She completed her thesis studies at Yale University. Later, she continued her scientific studies in Max-Planck Institute-Kernphysik (MPIK) -Heidelberg-Germany. During her stay in MPIK, she won Humboldt Fellowship. Her main research area is experimental nuclear physics which includes nuclear structure with low-lying gamma-ray spectroscopy and mass measurements. In addition, one of her main studies is proton-neutron interactions. She gave many invited talks and organized both national and international conferences/workshops. She has one international award (IUPAP), two national awards and TUBA-GEBIP project award.
