Aquaculture Programme
The aquaculture program comprises researchers who can carry out the studies mainly in the fields of sustainable and eco-friendly aquaculture in the frame work of Blue Growth strategy, aquacultureproduction systems, fresh water fish culture, marine fish culture, hatchery management, wild stock enhancement, commercial and live feed production, ornamental fish culture, crustacean culture, aquaculture economics, fish breeding andgenetics. This program offers both MSc and PhD degrees.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa YILDIZ
Mustafa YILDIZ is a Professor in the Department of Aquaculture and Fish Diseases of the Faculty of Aquatic Sciences, Istanbul University. Professor Yıldız obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Fisheries, Istanbul University. He later obtained his MSc. And PhD from the Institute of Graduate Studies in Sciences and Technology, Istanbul University. His research interests include research topics in freshwater and marine fish farming, fish nutrition, fish oil and fish meal replacement in aquafeeds, novel aquafeed ingredients, fish feed formulation and production, fillet quality, amino acids in fish diets, lipids and fatty acids metabolism, minerals, and the relationship between fish nutrition and enzymatic activities with their gene expressions. Professor Yıldız is a member of the World Aquaculture Society andEuropeanAquacultureSociety.
Doç. Dr. Aygül EKİCİ
Aygül EKİCİ is an Associate Professor in Department of Aquaculture and Fish Diseases at Istanbul University. She obtained BSc from Istanbul University Faculty of Fisheries. She attended to Istanbul University, Institute of Sciences, Aquaculture for her PhD. Her researches are involved in reproductive biotechnology in fish; gene transfer, detection of transgenic fish using molecular methods, sperm cryopreservation, chromosome manipulation applications, germ cell isolation and cryopreservation.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Güneş YAMANER
GüneşYamaner is an assistant professor in Department of Aquaculture and Fish Diseases at Istanbul University. She obtained BSc from Istanbul University Fisheries Faculty. She attended to Istanbul University, Institute of Sciences, and Aquaculture for her PhD. Her research interests have involved endangered species such as Sturgeon and Salmonid fish, freshwater fish culture, reproductive biology and gamete quality management of freshwater fish species, sperm cells and sperm cryopreservation. She is member of “World Sturgeon Conservation Society”.
